Job Description

The Category Manager is responsible for adding value to our trade relationships through identifying and implementing agreed strategies to grow the categories and the Brands which operate in these categories in which we trade.

  • Identify and build strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Based in North Sydney you will play a key role in supporting the Australian Sales, Supply Chain, and Marketing teams.
  • As Category Manager, you will be involved in identifying customer, brand, and shopper insights using both scan/shopper data and shopper research. With these insights, you will help to develop the strategies and layouts designed to drive category, brand, and retail customer growth.
  • In this varied role, you will assist with the establishment of integrated category plans, the management and presentation of effective customer category reviews (including optimal product ranging and space management recommendations), and be a key part of the development and launch of new products

Critical to your success will be:

  • Having the ability to collect, analyse and interpret data into actionable insights
  •  Collaborate positively within the Category team and with other department members
  • To work well within various cross-functional initiatives
  • Attention to detail and dedication to continuous improvement

We're looking for someone who has the following skills and experience:

  • Previous experience performing successfully in a Category role (Category Analyst, Category Specialist, Category Manager or Assistant Category Manager), ideally within an FMCG environment.
  • Strong analytical & interpretative skills
  • Experience using and analysing Aztec and Quantium data (both scan & shopper).
  • Space Planning experience (JDA) including use of Symphony.
  • Proficiency with IRI software (Scan, Shopper & WOW etc.)
  • Written and verbal communication skills of a high order required to interact with senior and middle management and to display diplomacy and patience when communicating with employees and other internal/external clients/customers
  • Bachelor's or Graduate's Degree in business, business administration, computer science or engineering, or equivalent experience.
